Not to sound too critical, but I am not blown away by the Bonnaroo lineup this year. There are still more acts to be announced, however I thought there would be some bigger names on the initial list. Don’t get me wrong, there are some exciting artists set to play for 2015. It is great to see Mumford & Sons back as headliners, after the last minute cancellation due to a band member’s health in 2013. I am also really excited to see that Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters are performing. I was very surprised to see Tears for Fears. I didn’t realize they were still together– doing their thing. They did breakup in 1991, and although they’ve had reunions since, this feels like a comeback to me and I would love to see them live.
I am very excited to see Royal Blood on the list! I had a feeling they were going to dominate the festival seen this year.
Bonnaroo 2015 is taking place on June 11-14. The headliners are Billy Joel, Mumford & Sons, DeadMau5 and Kendrick Lamar. Some other notable acts for this year include Florence & The Machine, Spoon, and the War on Drugs. There are some returning acts on the bill this year including Kendrick Lamar and Alabama Shakes, which will be awesome performances as always.
As always, the lineup was announced in a creative way. This year, the festival-goers were asked to call a toll-free number and were given the name of one artist. The fans were told to share the name on social media and the lineup slowly became whole. I could not be a part of the line-up announcement madness unfortunately…sigh, Canada. However, it was exciting to watch as more and more artists were announced.
This year it was announced that there would be a home-away Bonnaroo to take place just north of Toronto. This is amazing news for my fellow Canadian Bonnaroo-goers who have traveled up to 35 hours to get to Manchester, Tennessee in the past. They haven’t announced an official lineup or date yet, but I will be waiting on the edge of my seat to hear more news about a Canadian Bonnaroo.
