Girls who Rock Part 2

Another of my favourite albums from 2015 so far is Courtney Barnett’s “Sometimes I sit and think, and sometimes I just sit”.

This is the singer-songwriter-guitarist from Melbourne’s debut album. She is known for her witty and rambling lyrics, and I have to say, this album has the best songwriting I have heard in awhile. The album contains engaging lyrics that range from a silly song about a crush in the swim lane next over, to reflective about all the thoughts running through your head as we lay awake at night thinking about someone special.

To me, the sign of great songwriting is when the lyrics and content is so relatable that I wish I had written them myself.

Barnett is currently on an international tour right now. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like she is hitting Canada anytime soon… I always love having an excuse to go travelling!
