The Sheepdogs | Danforth Music Hall | February 5, 2016

Being my fifth time seeing the Dogs live, I am no stranger to the good vibes their shows emanate. This is the first time seeing them since the release of their latest album, “Future Nostalgia” (2015).

I think Jesse Kinos-Goodwin (First Play, CBC Music) got it right when he said, “As if they were born four decades too late, the bearded Saskatoon rockers channel a throwback sound that makes their music slide effortlessly into any playlist already featuring acts like the Band, The Guess Who, CCR or Lynyrd Skynyrd. Bringing the past into the present and beyond is clearly a key part of their existence”.

The highlight of the evening for me was when the band covered Neil Young’s “Down By the River”. I’m hoping to see them again very soon in the Future Nostalgia.
